Be Like Water – Power vs Heart

Be Like Water

Has there been a time in your life when you did not have to face a challenge or undergo a change? I doubt it. So long as we are alive, we will never stop having to deal with problems and issues.

When we are faced with a challenge or a change, we have two choices: either resist and fight, or go along with what’s happening, adapt to whatever is thrown at us as much as possible and move on with our lives.

I realize it’s not always easy to accept the problems or issues that come up at work or in our personal lives. We don’t always agree with the change, we may not understand what’s going on, or we don’t like the new way of doing things. We may feel trapped and think that it is not fair, or question as to ‘why me?’ And yet, there’s not much we can do about it.

The problem is that, the more we resist something, the more it persists. The more we think about the issue or change, the more importance we give it. Because of that, our brain starts focusing on it more and more. As a result, the problem starts consuming us, and before we know it, that’s all we can think about.

The saying ‘where the mind goes, energy flows’ is very true. The more you think about the issue, you give it more power than it deserves. If you just accept what’s happening, and try to go along with the change, you will be less stressed and be able to cope better, no matter what happens.

Let water be your example. When a stone is cast in it, you see ripples on the surface; and yet, the ripples don’t last long. They eventually disperse and disappear, allowing serenity to take over again.

You can either be like water, letting your energy flow freely through every tiny crease and fold of life, or you can resist each step creating unnecessary turbulence. Which choice would be better? When you resist a change, you feel miserable, depressed, and develop a victim consciousness. But, if you accept the change, focus on any learnings from it, your energy flow will continue to be free, you will recover faster, allowing you to grow from the experience and become an even stronger, resilient person.

So, choose to BE LIKE WATER!
